Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast Announce Youth of the Year Winner

17 year-old, Ben Landis was awarded the Countywide Youth of the Year, and will move forward to compete for Florida State Competition.


(Tampa Bay, Fla.,) – On February 23, 2012, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoastawarded Tarpon Spring Club member Ben Landis as 2012 Youth of the Year.  The Competition and Luncheon was held at The Club at Treasure Island. The inspiring event recognized the 17-year-old Palm Harbor University High School Senior as the winner due to his sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community.

Youth of the Year Winner Ben Landis is in the International Baccalaureate Program at Palm Harbor University High School.  He is involved at school and participates in numerous clubs and activities. Recently, his main focus has been the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, and the Key Club.  Ben brings components of these clubs to his local Boys & Girls Club in Tarpon Spring.

For the past two years, Ben has volunteered hundreds of hours at the Tarpon Spring Boys & Girls Club.  Ben is strong role model for the young Club Members and is respected by the Teen Members, the Club Staff, and the parents.  Ben has quite a “fan club” and the kids look forward to the days when he is there to mentor, help with homework, or just have fun.
